Hades II’s Warsong update brings final boss fight, Ares, and more

Supergiant Games just dropped the Hades II Warsong update, and it’s a big one. This patch finally lets Melinoë battle her way to the top of Mount Olympus for the game’s climactic showdown. Along the way, she’ll meet a new Olympian—Ares, the God of War—who brings his own powerful blessings. There’s also a final animal companion to aid her in combat.

This Hades II update shakes up core mechanics with stronger boons, an overhauled Altar of Ashes, and a reworked resource system. Now, any resource is available as long as you’ve unlocked the necessary tool, and their appearance rates have been adjusted. Menu screens have also been given a facelift with new animations.

On the story front, expect over 2,000 new voice lines, expanding character interactions and events. Gameplay tweaks include earlier access to bones, adjustments to key events so players can reach the surface sooner, and changes to enemy resistances. Guardians and Wardens with Guardian-style health bars are now immune to slowing effects, and player damage resistance no longer applies to armour.

This Hades II update also introduces fresh foes, locations, and Chaos Trials, each themed around different gods. These include the Trial of Thunder (Zeus), Trial of Glory (Hera), Trial of the Fall (Demeter), Trial of Slaughter (Ares), Trial of Destiny (Chaos), and Trial of Strife (Eris).

Supergiant Games has already started work on the next major update, and while 1.0 isn’t here yet, it’s getting closer.
