The dream of returning to Vice City will take a little longer, but Rockstar Games promises it will be worth the wait. The studio has announced that GTA VI will now launch on 19 November 2026, giving the team extra time to make the game as perfect as possible.

GTA VI delay official statement
In a heartfelt message shared on Thursday, Rockstar said the delay was not an easy decision but a necessary one. “We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realise has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve,” the studio explained. It’s a reminder that behind this massive project are developers working tirelessly to make something truly special.
Set in the lively state of Leonida, featuring a stunning modern Vice City, GTA VI promises a living, breathing world full of detail, freedom, and stories waiting to unfold. For many fans, it’s not just another game it’s a return to a world that shaped countless gaming memories.
The news came right before Take-Two Interactive’s earnings report and after reports of layoffs at Rockstar’s offices in the UK and Canada. Around 30 to 40 employees were affected, and the Independent Workers Union of Great Britain (IWGB) claimed that some of them were union members or planning to join.
This is the third delay for GTA VI, which was first planned for 2025 and then for May 2026. Each delay may sting, but fans know Rockstar’s history; every extra month usually means a more refined, immersive, and unforgettable experience.
So while the wait stretches on, there’s comfort in knowing that Rockstar isn’t rushing. They’re crafting something that could redefine open-world gaming once again. When we finally return to the neon lights of Vice City, it just might feel like the wait was worth every moment.
