Grounded 2 broke the original game’s all-time Steam concurrent player record in under an hour.
As spotted by Klobrille on X, the sequel hit over 49,500 players on Steam shortly after launch, beating Grounded’s peak of 32,012 from 2021. That number doesn’t include anyone playing through Game Pass Ultimate on Xbox or PC.

Grounded 2 adds buggies, boosts scale
This was announced just last month during the Xbox Games Showcase. Grounded 2 is available now in early access for £24.99 ($30) or through Game Pass. It builds on the original’s survival formula with a bigger world, co-op play, and new features like buggies, a vehicle system that wasn’t possible in the first game.
Obsidian is leading development again, this time with help from Eidos-Montréal.
It’s a strong start, and early signs point to even more players diving in over the coming weeks.
