The God of War TV series on Amazon is moving forward. But it won’t be a straight remake of the games.
Showrunner Ronald D. Moore spoke at San Diego Comic-Con. He said the team is adapting the 2018 game, but changing things for TV.
“It’s an adaptation-slash-interpretation. We want to keep the story, the characters, and the spirit.” Ronald D. Moore

Cory Barlog is involved
Cory Barlog, who directed the 2018 game, is helping with the show. Moore praised Barlog’s deep knowledge of the God of War world. “He can explain everything, myths, puzzles, why things were done,” he said.
Moore also said the world of God of War is full of ideas. The team wants to take the best parts and build a new version for TV.
Part of Amazon’s push for game shows
Amazon is betting big on video game shows. A second season of Fallout is coming. Shows based on Wolfenstein, Mass Effect, and Warhammer 40K are also in the works.
The God of War show could run for two seasons.
The last game in the series, God of War Ragnarök, came out in 2022. It wrapped up Kratos’ story.
Sony Santa Monica is now working on a new project. It might be another reimagining, just like the 2018 reboot.
