God of War: Sons of Sparta backlash grows as David Jaffe speaks out

Fans recently got big news from Santa Monica Studio. A God of War trilogy remake is on the way. At the same time, the studio quietly released God of War: Sons of Sparta. The game looks at Kratos’ early years. But the reaction has not been fully positive.

God of War Creator REVIEWS Sons Of Sparta!

Series creator David Jaffe has openly criticised the new release. After about an hour with the game, he said it did not feel like God of War. He questioned the quality and direction. His comments were blunt and clearly emotional.

Jaffe later posted a longer video discussion. He broke down gameplay clips and explained his concerns. His biggest issue seems to be Kratos himself. According to him, the character does not match what long-time fans expect. That difference may explain why some players feel unsure about the prequel.

Still, reactions from players are mixed. Some enjoy the new look at Kratos’ past. Others agree the tone feels different from earlier titles.

Meanwhile, Santa Monica Studio is not slowing down. The trilogy remake is still in development. Another project is also reportedly in the works.

Whether this is a stumble or simply growing pains remains unclear. But one thing is certain: when a franchise creator speaks this loudly, the industry tends to listen.
