Genshin Impact is officially counting down its final days on PS4. MiHoYo has confirmed that support for the PS4 version will gradually phase out, ending entirely in 2026.
The decision comes as the game’s technical demands outgrow what the ageing console can handle.
In a recent blog post, MiHoYo cited “limitations related to hardware performance and platform application size” as the core reasons. The PS4 version will be delisted from the PlayStation Network on September 10, 2025. If you’ve downloaded it before, you can still re-download, but fresh installs stop after that.

On February 25, 2026, in-game purchases for PS4 players will be shut down. By April 8, 2026, all update support ends, making the game unplayable on PS4.
MiHoYo says players will start seeing reminders about this phase-out later this year.
Mobile players aren’t off the hook either. The game’s hardware demands on iOS and Android are going up. Devices with older chipsets or limited RAM will soon struggle to keep up. Here’s a breakdown of the updated mobile requirements:
Genshin Impact Updated Mobile Requirements
| Specification | Android | iOS |
|---|---|---|
| Architecture / Chipset | ARMv8-A 64-bit / Snapdragon 660 or Helio G88 | iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPad mini (5th gen), iPad Air (3rd gen) |
| Snapdragon 855 / Dimensity 1000 / Kirin 980+ | or later models (iPhone 12 series or iPad 9th gen recommended) | |
| GPU | Non-PowerVR GPU | Apple A11 chip or newer (A12 or better recommended) |
| RAM | 4GB (6GB or more recommended) | 3GB (4GB or more recommended) |
| Operating System | Android 10.0 and above (12.0 and above preferred) | iOS 13.0 and above |
The move might shrink Genshin Impact’s PS4 audience, but numbers show the shift is already happening. According to Sony, PS5 players have overtaken PS4 users in monthly active numbers. Across both consoles, Genshin Impact had a massive combined player base of 124 million as of March 31, with spending on content and services climbing.
Even as PS4 fades out, Genshin Impact is alive and well on PS5, PC, and Xbox. MiHoYo is also busy with its other live-service hits like Honkai: Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero.
If you’re still adventuring in Teyvat on a PS4, the clock is ticking.
