Genesis Neon 750 RGB review

I’ve never had the opportunity to review a headset by Genesis, and whilst I’ve always been a big fan of their products (cases, chairs, desks, keyboards and even speakers!), I’m quite particular with headsets these days. Having been through so many sets of earbuds and over-ear headsets, I’ve grown to really appreciate the quality out there in the market.

Will the Neon 750 RGB manage to not only keep up the name of Genesis but show that they can deliver high-quality headsets?

Spoiler alert: Yeah, the Neon 750 RGB is decent, especially at the price point.

Neon 750 RGB - Glow

Look

If we’re going off the visual stylings alone, you can be confident that Genesis is going to deliver. The Neon 750 RGB is no exception to their gamer-focused design.

My unit was black which really helps the RGB lighting pop when you’re playing later in the evening. The backlit cups look excellent and give the overall aesthetic a bit of a lift.

Big and well-cushioned. This chunky and comfy-looking headset fits in with any gaming setup. Premium stylings and finish. The Neon 750 RGB sure looks the part!

Audio

As always, this is easily the most important aspect.  Thankfully, after 15+ hours of wearing it while playing Overwatch 2, Ni No Kuni 2, Fortnite, and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, I can confirm that it sounds great. The Neon 750 RGB works with all game types. It’s a true all-rounder.

The 2.0 surround maybe isn’t a full virtual surround sound headset, but it’s giving you all that you need at a price point that isn’t going to break the bank. I can hear shots popping off in the distance, directionally informing me where it’s coming from. The music and saccharine soundtrack of Ni No Kuni 2 is an audible delight. Genesis has crafted a little gem with the Neon 750 RGB.

Bass of explosions, the high notes of violins and cellos in the background of a visit to a distant town. The Neon 750 RGB delivers what I can only imagine is exactly what audio designers wanted from their games.

Microphone

Along with the audio, my biggest gripe with headsets in this price range is the lack of attention to the quality of a microphone.

Luckily here it isn’t the case.

The detachable microphone is sturdy and flexible. It gives plenty of room for movement and getting those all-important audio levels just right. Often helping elevate those all-important team comms in the middle of a gunfight.

Sure, you’re not going to use it to record your next album. But the clarity and the functionality out of the box are well worth the price. Fantastic work here by the Neon 750 RGB.

Build and Comfort

Genesis knows comfort, and they know how to make quality gaming peripherals. So I wasn’t particularly concerned here. The Neon 750 RGB is a great headset.

Cushioning in all the right places on the headband and ear cups. Soft leather-style finish over the lovely metal frame.

With solid, braided cables and the USB extension and a 3.5mm adapter. You’re covered for all bases. Cabled in at a distance, comfortable and experiencing excellent 2.0 surround sound.

This is a headset that you can wear on your head and over your ears for extended periods of time with minimal discomfort, and that’s worth its weight in gold for gaming marathons.

Overall thoughts on the Genesis Neon 750 RGB

No trouble here rating the Neon 750 RGB a solid 8.5/10. It’s built to last and to be comfortable.

Delivering solid audio and a clear mic, you’ve got everything you need. Sure, a full 7.1 surround would be lovely, and I’d love to see Genesis deliver that one day. But this isn’t priced as a top-end premium headset. This isn’t an audiophile’s dream, but damn, it’s a solid unit.
