New game announcements: Exploring new worlds and old favourites

Bohemia Interactive’s SkyVerse and Brute Horse

Bohemia Interactive made waves at Gamescom 2024 by announcing two new titles under their Bohemia Incubator label. SkyVerse and Brute Horse promise to deliver unique gaming experiences that cater to a wide range of players.

SkyVerse is a voxel sandbox RPG that blends survival elements with first-person exploration. Players will take on the role of an airship captain navigating an open, auto-generated world filled with floating islands. The game offers a fully destructible environment, allowing complete freedom in building, battling, and surviving. With single-player and co-op multiplayer support, SkyVerse is poised to provide endless hours of adventure across a vast, sky-bound world.

On the other hand, Brute Horse takes a more humorous and action-packed approach. Set in the barbaric fantasy world of South Vulgaria, this narrative-driven action platformer features a trio of quirky mercenaries. The game combines strategic combat, puzzle-solving, and a story brimming with comedy and heartwarming moments. With couch co-op gameplay and a unique storyline that remains tightly under wraps, Brute Horse is set to charm players with its offbeat characters and dynamic gameplay.

Sengoku Dynasty 1.0 release announcement

Developer Superkami and publisher Toplitz Productions also took to the Gamescom stage to showcase Sengoku Dynasty. The multi-genre game, which combines RPG, city-building, life simulation, and survival elements, has evolved significantly through continuous updates.

As it approaches its 1.0 release in November 2024, the game now features enhanced graphics, improved AI, and a new combat system, allowing players to fully immerse themselves in the chaos of feudal Japan. Whether you’re building a peaceful village or engaging in intense combat, Sengoku Dynasty offers a rich and expansive world for players to explore.

Fruitbus, Drill Core, and more: Indie gems to watch

For fans of indie games, Gamescom Day 2 did not disappoint. Krillbite Studio announced the October 28th release date for Fruitbus, an emotional adventure where players take on the role of a food truck driver forging connections and righting wrongs through the power of food. The game promises a heartwarming journey filled with exploration, cooking, and community building.

Meanwhile, Drill Core is set to enter Steam Early Access on September 12th. This mining simulation game from Hungry Couch and tinyBuild challenges players to manage a mining crew, survive monster attacks, and uncover hidden profits deep within the planet’s core.

#DRIVE Rally, an arcade-inspired rally racing game, was also highlighted with a September 25th Early Access release date. With over 400 km of tracks and a plethora of customization options, #DRIVE Rally is a nostalgic nod to the golden era of rally racing.
