FBC: Firebreak still failing after major update, Remedy admits disappointing results

FBC: Firebreak just can’t catch a break. Despite Remedy Entertainment’s massive overhaul last month, the studio admits the multiplayer spin-off is still underperforming.

The Breakpoint update promised big changes, fresh Crises, new weapons, and fixes to the game’s rough launch. But Remedy’s latest investor post reveals the results weren’t what they’d hoped for. CEO Tero Virtala confirmed the game hasn’t met the company’s internal sales targets, leading Remedy to record a non-cash impairment of around €14.9 million, mostly covering development and publishing costs.

FBC: Firebreak’s rough road ahead

The game, released early this year, was Remedy’s first attempt at a multiplayer experience within the Control universe. Fans expected something bold, but the game struggled with an empty start and weak content. Even after the update, it seems a few players have returned, reports suggest numbers are in the double digits.

Still, Remedy isn’t walking away just yet. Virtala says the studio will keep improving Firebreak under a “revised long-term forecast.” Whether that’s enough to save it remains to be seen, but right now, the spark seems to be fading fast.
