Fable could come to Switch 2 as Xbox weighs future port

The upcoming Fable reboot may not be limited to Xbox, PC, and PlayStation. A new claim suggests Nintendo’s next console is at least part of the discussion.

Reliable Xbox insider Jez Corden says Fable is currently “under consideration” for the Nintendo Switch 2. Posting on X, he explained that the port is not confirmed and is not in development right now. Instead, the situation is said to be focused on logistics, meaning technical and planning concerns are still being worked through.

Fable Switch 2 version depends on logistics

Corden added that while the release is not “100% definite,” he believes a Switch 2 version could still happen in the future. For now, no active work is taking place, but the door is clearly not closed.

Developed by Playground Games, Fable recently appeared at Xbox Developer Direct with its first proper gameplay reveal. The studio also confirmed a release window, with the game launching day one on Xbox, PC, and PlayStation 5.

The developers shared more about the game’s direction during the event. Fable is built around three core pillars: Freedom, Fairytale, and Britishness. These ideas shape player choice, tone, and world design. The team’s open-world experience from the Horizon series is also playing a major role.

Not all features are returning, though. The reboot will not include a dog companion. A new reputation-based morality system will instead react more closely to player actions and choices.
