Dispatch launches on Switch with censorship that’s hard to ignore

Dispatch has officially launched on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The release follows last month’s Australian eShop listing, so the timing is no surprise. What has caught players off guard is how much content has been censored.

Fans quickly began sharing changes online. One well-known scene has been altered. During a moment where Robert Robertson III, also known as Mecha Man and voiced by Aaron Paul, helps Blonde Blazer with a dress, a brief wardrobe slip occurs in the original version. On Nintendo platforms, that moment is completely removed.

This is not an isolated case. Several curse words have also been censored. Dialogue now includes bleeped-out language, and there is no setting to disable it. Even adult players have no control over these changes. That has caused frustration, especially since more explicit titles are already available on the Nintendo eShop.

Dispatch developer explains the changes

Developer Ad Hoc Studio addressed the situation in the launch press release. The studio said that each platform has its own content rules. According to the team, it worked with Nintendo to meet those requirements, while keeping the main story and gameplay intact.

Even so, the difference is clear. Dispatch was one of the standout titles of the year. Players who own another platform may want to experience it there.

Nintendo players do get a technical bonus. There is a free upgrade from Switch to Switch 2. The newer version runs at 1440p and 60fps, while the original Switch version is capped at 720p and 30fps.
