The Dark Outlaw Games shutdown is now being widely reported, and it’s a rough turn for PlayStation Studios just a year after the team was formed. Led by former Call of Duty Zombies veteran Jason Blundell, the studio never even got to properly show what it was working on.
Early reports came from ResetEra, where claims suggested the team was still in the early stages of its first project before things were cut short. At first, it sounded like a rumour. But that quickly changed.

Dark Outlaw Games shutdown linked to wider PlayStation cuts
According to Bloomberg, the Dark Outlaw Games shutdown is real, and it’s part of a wider shift inside Sony. Around 50 jobs have reportedly been cut from PlayStation’s mobile teams across the US and UK.
That lines up with talk that PlayStation is stepping back from mobile projects. Existing titles like MLB The Show Mobile and Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble are still safe, but the focus now seems to be on fewer, bigger projects.
For players, this is another reminder that even big names and fresh studios are not safe right now. With no official statement yet, it leaves more questions than answers about where PlayStation is heading next.
