Cyberpunk 2077 – Patch 1.6

Cyberpunk 2077 has had a rough ride since its release. Let’s be honest, people mostly only know of it because of how terrible a state it was launched in.

I played it over at ninjarefinery.com and on stream for a bit, about 6 months after release, and I loved it. The main story was decent, the gunplay, the hacking, the city. Everything was great. Plenty of room for improvement, though and Cyberpunk 2077 has seen just that. Patch after patch of change and improvement.

I want to go back and get different endings. I need the Johnny Silverhand Porsche and I know that I have a lot more to get out of Cyberpunk 2077.

With the release of the Cyberpunk 2077 animated series on Netflix, there’s a new patch with some fixes and improvements, but also new content to tie into the Edgerunners release.

You can buy Cyberpunk 2077 pretty cheap these days, and with the amount of work being put into it since its release, it’s definitely worth picking up. Here are the most recent changes, and more importantly, the ones we should be most excited about.

Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.6 – The big bits

Transmog

Ok, an RPG should, and is always generally all about role-play. Building your character out as you like, matching your preferred playstyle, and looking at how you want to look in this modern world.

Cyberpunk 2077 kind of dropped that ball here a little, initially.

All of your armour and perks are tied to the clothing you wear, but that means you have two choices…..Look shit, but have good stats, or look great and have shit stats.

Well, no more!

Cyberpunk has a Transmog system now. You can look how you like, wearing the clothing you have, to make the outfit you want. Whilst having a separate menu for your armour and stats. It’s a simple thing in an RPG, but no doubt a substantial amount of work from CD Projekt Red. Now it’s here you can fulfil your Cyberpunk style passion!

Go to your wardrobe in one of your apartments, and get dressed!

Cross-progression

This is a big thing in games for me these days, and let’s be honest, it’s something we should start to expect as a standard. It isn’t, in fact, it’s still quite rare, but Cyberpunk 2077 now lets you carry saves between platforms.

If you have Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox and start playing on Playstation or PC. You’re good to go with your saves and progress stored and access online. So you can play your game no matter where you are.

This is a fantastic addition!

Gigs and quests

There are more hidden secrets around Night City now. Quest issues and bugs have been fixed, and there has been some Edgerunners-specific content hidden in the game, too.

Outfits, photo-mode additions and even things like changing the lights/colours on your motorbike. Sure, it sounds minimal, but not everything has been found yet, and there’s more customisation, which people have been clamouring for.

Weapon changes

I won’t go into all of the new weapons and changes, but one really stood out to me. Cyberpunk 2077 will always go down in my memory as having some of the most erm….interesting weapons.

In one sidequest chain, I ended up with an “Iconic” weapon that was a Dildo-sword. Sir John Phallustiff to be specific.

Well, the patch notes have highlighted some changes, and I love how specific it is……

Sir John Phallustiff will now have a new Iconic effect, increasing damage when hitting NPCs in the face. It will also have a chance to stun enemies with strong attacks. Gamepads will now be constantly vibrating while holding the weapon.

Outstanding work.

Edgerunners and what else is to come

Edgerunners is now out on Netflix, something I’m really looking forward to getting into after I finish the latest series of JoJo’s Bizarre adventure. It looks slick, and as someone that actually enjoyed Cyberpunk 2077, I’ve really excited to add some depth to the world of Night City.

There’s DLC on the horizon for Cyberpunk 2077, too. I’m always looking for that hook to bring me back in and get me back on the train. Between this patch, Edgerunners and the DLC are on their way. I think it’s time to dive back in and uncover more of the world.

I promise you it isn’t as bad as people have made out. Or more specifically, it’s in a much better state now, and actually a good game.
