Crosswind is coming on Steam Early Access in 2026, and the latest trailer shows it’s not holding back. The cooperative pirate survival game from Forward Gateway and Crosswind Crew has revealed fresh details, including a brand-new biome, dangerous undead enemies, and more.

The Ashlands is the big highlight. This volcanic wasteland is covered in ash and crawling with undead, and it’s not somewhere you’ll want to stay too long without backup. Players will also encounter Tortuga, an outpost under siege that demands quick thinking and even quicker sword work.

Early Access will focus on PvE, whether you’re playing solo or teaming up with friends. You can customise your ship or watch your crew member fight on deck, and if you want, you can recruit new allies for your adventure.
Interestingly, Crosswind has shifted from its original free-to-play survival MMO plans. The developers say this move to a paid model comes after listening to closed Alpha player feedback. With that change, they’re looking at adding support for mods, dedicated servers, and more robust survival mechanics.
The team promises a highly polished experience at launch and plans to expand the world with new features and content as feedback rolls in. 2026 might feel far off, but who knows? It might be worth it.
