A new mod for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is now available on Nexus Mods, bringing improved lighting and reflections to the stylish RPG – with only a small hit to performance.
The mod, named “Enhanced Lumen,” tweaks the game’s engine settings to enable a feature called r.Lumen.TraceMeshSDFs
. It’s a bit of a technical switch, but the end result is simple – better lighting accuracy and more realistic reflections. According to modders, players can expect a performance drop of just 2–4 FPS, but the visual difference is especially noticeable in specific lighting scenarios.
If you’re already drawn to the game’s art style, this mod pushes it further, adding a touch of realism to its already painterly presentation.

The release comes hot on the heels of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 hitting a major milestone. Despite launching in the shadow of some big-name releases, the game has already sold over one million copies. Not bad at all for a brand-new IP from Sandfall Interactive. And with the game also available through Xbox Game Pass on both PC and console, that sales figure is even more impressive.
It’s not just numbers, either – the game’s mix of turn-based combat, emotional storytelling, and memorable characters has earned it praise from players and critics alike. According to the game’s lead writer, fans can likely expect more content or expansions set in the same universe.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is out now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox.
