Well, this is cheeky. Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be free to play from October 9th to 16th, the exact week Battlefield 6 drops. A perfectly timed move to steal a bit of EA’s spotlight.
You can dive into the Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies modes with no restrictions. Expect over 40 multiplayer maps, all six Zombies maps (including Directed Mode), and new Haunting content featuring the Gravity, Rig, and Mothball maps. The Haunted Havoc limited-time Zombies mode will also be available throughout the week.

A calculated distraction
That said, Black Ops 6 isn’t exactly fresh anymore. It’s been almost a year since launch, and most of its community has already cleared the campaign, a decent effort, but far from peak COD.
Of course, all eyes are now on Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, launching November 14th. Treyarch and Raven Software are teasing a darker, wilder story set in 2035, with David Mason leading a team through a collapsing world where fear itself is the enemy.
One technical note – both Black Ops 7 and Battlefield 6 require TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot to run. If you played BF6’s open beta without issues, your system’s already ready for the next Black Ops.
So, two heavyweight shooters, one big week, and plenty of explosions on the horizon. Who comes out on top? We’ll find out soon enough.
