Borderlands 4 pre-orders are live. Gearbox Software has shared the PC requirements, and they’re not as heavy as expected.
Fans were nervous when Randy Pitchford delayed the pricing news. Many feared an £80+ launch. But that’s not the case.

The game runs on Unreal Engine 5 and features the biggest open world in the series. Still, the PC specs are reasonable.
Borderlands 4 PC requirements
Here’s a side-by-side comparison:
Spec Type | Minimum Requirements | Recommended Requirements |
---|---|---|
OS | Windows 10 / 11 | Windows 10 / 11 |
Processor | Intel Core i7-9700 / AMD Ryzen 7 2700X | Intel Core i7-12700 / AMD Ryzen 7 5800X |
Memory (RAM) | 16 GB | 32 GB |
Graphics Card | NVIDIA RTX 2070 / AMD RX 5700 XT | NVIDIA RTX 3080 / AMD RX 6800 XT |
Storage | 100 GB SSD required | 100 GB SSD required |
Additional Notes | 8 CPU cores, 8 GB VRAM required | 8+ CPU cores, 12+ GB VRAM required |
For a next-gen looter shooter, these specs are quite modest. Other Unreal Engine 5 titles often demand more.
The world in Borderlands 4 is seamless. No loading screens. If you see something, you can reach it.
Movement is also improved except for double jumping, gliding, dodging, and grappling. It should feel much faster and more fluid.
Co-op returns with drop-in, drop-out gameplay. Cross-play is supported, but you’ll need a SHiFT account.
Borderlands 4 launches on 12 September for PC, PS5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch 2.
