Kodansha Game Creators’ Lab has announced the upcoming release of BOKURA: planet, a sequel to the critically acclaimed BOKURA, set to launch in early 2025. This new instalment is being developed by the indie game creator Tokoronyori, known for his unique and immersive game designs. BOKURA: planet promises to bring back the collaborative puzzle-solving and engaging narrative that made its predecessor a hit.
A unique two-player puzzle adventure
BOKURA: planet requires two players to play on separate devices, making communication and cooperation key elements of the gameplay. Players must describe what they see to each other and work together to solve intricate puzzles. The game introduces a new “push” mechanic, adding an extra layer of strategy and potential for mischief, as players can now push each other around, even off cliffs if they’re not careful. This new dynamic promises to make BOKURA: planet not just a test of wits, but also of teamwork and trust.
An intriguing storyline
Set in a dystopian future where Earth has been destroyed and rebuilt from the Stone Age, BOKURA: planet follows two characters who are part of a space exploration mission. Condemned prisoners are chosen for these dangerous journeys, and our protagonists find themselves crash-landed on an unknown red planet. With each having their own reasons to return to Earth, they must navigate the treacherous terrain and cooperate to survive and find their way back.
A legacy of innovation
Tokoronyori, the mastermind behind BOKURA: planet, has a history of creating thought-provoking and original games. His past works, such as Planet of the Lonely and BOKURA, have gained significant attention and praise for their artistic style and unique gameplay mechanics. BOKURA, released in February 2023, sold over 600,000 copies and became a favourite among streamers and VTubers, both in Japan and internationally.
