NetEase Games has announced Blood Message, a cinematic and story-driven action-adventure game coming to PC and consoles. It’s being developed by 24 Entertainment Lin’an, a new studio under Thunder Fire Studio. No release date has been revealed yet.
The game is fully single-player and built on Unreal Engine 5. It features brutal combat, survival elements, and a strong focus on Eastern storytelling.
Blood Message follows a father and son’s journey through war
Set during the final years of the Tang Dynasty, Blood Message tells the story of a nameless messenger and his young son. As part of an uprising in Dunhuang, the two must travel over 3,000 li (around 1,000 miles) to reach Chang’an and deliver a message that could change their country’s future.
The journey takes them across deserts, mountains, and battlefields. It’s not about heroes or rulers. It’s about ordinary people caught in something bigger than themselves, fighting for family, honour, and survival.
What the game offers
- A linear, cinematic story focused on emotional storytelling
- Realistic combat with stealth and survival gameplay
- Themes of loyalty, sacrifice, and cultural identity
- Environments inspired by real landscapes across East and Central Asia
Blood Message is designed to feel grounded and powerful. It puts players in the shoes of forgotten heroes and asks how their stories survive through time.
This is a major step for NetEase, known mostly for online and mobile titles. With Blood Message, they aim to offer a deep and emotional single-player experience.
