PLAYISM, WSS playground, and Team Ladybug have announced that their upcoming Metroidvania game, Blade Chimera, will release on 16 January 2025. The game will be available for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.
About Blade Chimera
Blade Chimera follows the story of Shin, a Demon Hunter who has lost his memories. Players will explore a dangerous world, fighting monsters and uncovering Shin’s past. With the help of his sword, Lux—a demon that has taken on a blade form—Shin slowly regains his skills and memories.
Each recovered skill transforms Lux, making Shin stronger and allowing access to new areas. This transformation is key to overcoming the many challenges in the game.
Story
Set in a dystopian future, the world of Blade Chimera is plagued by demons that appear suddenly, forcing humanity into a 30-year war. Survivors have built a new society under the Missa Association, a religious group that discovered how to fight these demons.
Shin was found in cryosleep three years ago, with no memory of his past. Since then, he has become one of the association’s top warriors. However, when he encounters Lux, a powerful demon who seems familiar, his journey to uncover the truth begins.
As Shin investigates the secrets of his past and the world’s current state, players will uncover a gripping tale of survival and resilience.
Gameplay
This 2D action game focuses on exploration, combat, and upgrades. Players will use the Lumina Sword and other weapons, including daggers and guns, to fight enemies and navigate through the game’s world. Levelling up allows players to unlock new skills and customise their playstyle.
The game’s detailed pixel art, created by Team Ladybug, brings the cyberpunk-inspired world to life with stunning animations and intricate environments.
