Beast of Reincarnation is not a Soulslike, Game Freak confirms

Japanese developer Game Freak has shared a clearer picture of its new action RPG, Beast of Reincarnation. The game appeared during the Xbox Developer Direct Show 2026. Soon after, many players began comparing it to Soulslike games.

That comparison has now been addressed directly.

In an interview with Famitsu, Game Director Kota Furushima said the game is built to be accessible. Players can choose difficulty levels. Lowering the difficulty is fully supported and encouraged.

The aim is simple. Even players who are not good at action games should be able to finish the game. Furushima stressed that the team does not want players to feel scared before starting.

Flexible combat and skill trees shape your playstyle in Beast of Reincarnation

Beast of Reincarnation will still challenge players at times. Defeat is possible. Trial and error is part of the loop. But the game is not designed around repeating a boss fight dozens of times.

Instead, players can rethink their approach. You can change fighting styles. You can respec skills. You can rely more on Koo’s support abilities.

The protagonists, Emma the Sealer and Koo, each have three skill trees. These allow close-range combat, long-range attacks, and stealth actions. There are also passive skills that boost stats and recovery.

Beast of Reincarnation is targeting a summer 2026 launch. It will release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox. More updates are expected soon.
