EA has dropped a new live-action trailer for Battlefield 6, and it’s not subtle about who it’s mocking. The opening scene shows Zac Efron, Jimmy Butler, Morgan Wallen, and Paddy Pimblett strutting in slow motion, kitted out in tactical gear. Efron starts a dramatic line, only for the whole squad to get obliterated by a missile seconds later.

Out of the smoke, real soldiers walk in. “Who was that?” one asks. “It doesn’t matter,” another replies. The rest of the trailer is pure Battlefield, urban firefights, gadgets in action, and the kind of destruction fans expect.

The jab is clear. For years, Call of Duty has leaned on celebrity cameos to sell games. EA is saying players don’t need Hollywood faces. They just need chaos, gunfights, and spectacle.
Activision has been shifting away from its star-studded marketing. Black Ops 7 pre-order skins have already been reworked after criticism, with the publisher pushing for a more “authentic” vibe. But the timing of this trailer makes the message sting harder.
The rivalry is back in the spotlight. Battlefield 6 launches October 10 on PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC. With Call of Duty right around the corner, too, this year’s fight for the shooter crown just got personal.
