Battlefield 6 will let you train with bots before facing real players in PvP chaos

Battlefield 6 is giving newcomers a softer landing. Instead of throwing you straight into PvP chaos, EA’s latest shooter has “Initiation” modes designed to help you learn the ropes before the real battle begins.

Both the upcoming open beta and the full release will feature these bot-populated matches. You’ll get to practise on actual maps, learn objectives, and test out weapons without facing sweaty human players who haven’t seen grass since ages from the get-go. In the open beta, Breakthrough Initiation will walk you through objective-based gameplay. When the full game launches, you’ll also have Conquest Initiation to master the territory control format.

The Battlefield 6 open beta kicks off with two play sessions. The first is set for tomorrow, with early access codes giving lucky players a head start. This weekend will feature three maps and five modes, including Breakthrough with and without Initiation.

The open beta preload is now available, with nearly 10,000 players already waiting on Steam.

The second session runs from next weekend from August 14-17. This one ups the ante by adding a fourth map and new modes like Squad Deathmatch and Rush.

And if you’re a fan of Twitch drops, there’s more reason to tune in. EA is offering four exclusive skins for watching BF6 beta streams. The longer you watch, the more skins you unlock.

The game launches on October 10 for Xbox, PlayStation 5, and PC, and yeah, cross-play will be there if you want it.

Preorders are open now. The Standard Edition is priced at $70 (£55), while the Phantom Edition, which is loaded with extra skins and currency, will set you back $100 (£78).
