Avowed is officially heading to PS5, with Obsidian Entertainment confirming a release date of 17 February 2025. The announcement also came with details on a sizeable anniversary update, adding several long-requested features for existing players.
The news was shared during the New Game+ Showcase on 8 January 2026. Gameplay director Gabriel Paramo and lead character artist Dimitri Berman outlined what players can expect from the upcoming update, which focuses heavily on replay value and customisation.

The headline addition is New Game Plus. This mode lets players restart the game while keeping all previously earned items. That said, weapons will reset to their base levels, meaning players will need to upgrade them again during the new run.

New character races are also on the way, expanding build options and role-playing freedom within the Living Lands. According to the developers, some of these ideas were planned earlier but did not make it into the original launch.
Another major addition is a dedicated photo mode. You will be able to capture their Envoy using new creative tools, alongside fresh character presets that offer more visual variety.
Avowed originally launched on Xbox platforms in February 2025. With Microsoft’s “Everything is an Xbox” strategy gaining momentum, the PS5 release marks another high-profile shift away from strict exclusivity.
Pre-orders were expected to go live on 8 January, though the PlayStation Store page was still unavailable at the time of writing.
