Update on IPTV Crackdown

IPTV Not working with Police message

So yesterday, we reported about rumours circulating the web that Norfolk and Suffolk police had cracked down on IPTV. Taking down a popular service provider we now know to be called Global.

The message on the IPTV services states:

THIS ILLEGAL STREAM HAS BEEN SEIZED BY NORFOLK AND SUFFOLK POLICE.

WATCHING ILLEGAL BROADCASTS IS A CRIME
YOUR IP ADDRESS HAS BEEN RECORDED
YOU ARE INSTRUCTED TO CEASE AND DESIST IMMEDIATELY FROM ALL ILLEGAL MEDIA STREAMING

Following yesterday’s news, we had many people message us, claiming this was fake. Saying we need to report better and get facts straight. All following rumours the owners of the service had just up and run.

Well, earlier today, Suffolk Police did in fact confirm that a man was arrested in relation to illegal IPTV Streams. Whether the two are related, we don’t know. Maybe the provider in question did do a runner using this as a cover, maybe all the rumours yesterday about police seizing the service were true.

Either way, this probably won’t be the last we hear of the situation. And we’ll be sure to bring you updates as we get them.
