Atari has just pulled off a surprise move, securing the rights to five of Ubisoft’s long-lost games. The deal, signed under Atari’s revived publishing arm, launched in April 2024, will see these titles brought back to life for old fans and new players alike.
The collection includes Cold Fear (2005), I Am Alive (2012), Child of Eden (2011), Grow Home (2015), and its sequel Grow Up (2016). While each of these games carries its own cult following, the spotlight naturally falls on I Am Alive – a post-apocalyptic survival title that never quite got its due.
Developed by Ubisoft Shanghai with help from the now-closed Darkworks, it delivered a bleak but memorable take on survival, even if its short digital-only release held it back from wider recognition.

Atari looks to breathe new life into old favourites
Ubisoft’s Deborah Papiernik praised the move, saying it would allow “long-time players to revisit those memories while inviting new audiences to discover them.” Atari CEO Wade Rosen echoed the excitement, hinting that the company won’t just be re-releasing the games, but also exploring ways to evolve them into something fresh.
So, with Atari now holding the keys, are we finally about to see I Am Alive get the second life it deserved?
