ASUS released firmware updates for over 180 of its desktop motherboards, as well as video BIOS (VBIOS) updates for its NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 30-series GPUs, to unlock the exciting Resizable BAR feature on compatible systems. Resizable BAR, a feature of the PCI Express® expansion bus standard widely employed in modern PCs, allows the CPU and GPU to communicate more efficiently to enhance performance in select game titles.

As a leading provider of motherboards and custom GPU add-in boards, ASUS has been working with its industry partners to enable this exciting feature for owners of its custom NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30-series products. Thanks to internal testing that reveals performance increases of more than 12%[1]1 in AAA games such as Forza Horizon 4, ASUS is excited to bring support for this feature to as many of its customers as possible.

[1] In Forza Horizon 4, ASUS internal testing showed that the ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3070 delivered a 110.6 FPS average with Resizable BAR off and a 124.7 FPS average with Resizable BAR on at a 3840×2160 resolution, for a net performance gain of 12.8%.

The company has produced updates for motherboards ranging from attainable AMD® A520 and Intel® H410 platforms to high-end AMD TRX40 and Intel X299 platforms, demonstrating this strong commitment. A full list of ASUS motherboards receiving firmware updates to enable Resizable BAR, as well as the minimum firmware version required to take full advantage of this feature with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30-series GPUs, is provided as a supplement to this release.

To bring Resizable BAR support to owners of all ASUS GeForce RTX 30-series GPUs, the company is also issuing video BIOS (VBIOS) updates for its custom versions of GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, GeForce RTX 3070, GeForce RTX 3080, and GeForce RTX 3090 GPUs. Starting today, owners of these products can download and install the latest VBIOS in only a few clicks using our convenient support pages and self-contained updater. ASUS GeForce RTX 3060 GPUs have supported Resizable BAR since launch and do not require a VBIOS update to take advantage of the feature.
