On Steam, Shadows holds a ‘Very Positive’ rating (82%), with critics also praising the game, highlighting its mix of classic stealth with Valhalla-style combat, a solid narrative, and a stunning take on Feudal Japan though content bloat remains an issue.

The game’s success comes at a crucial time for Ubisoft. The publisher has now confirmed the formation of a new subsidiary overseeing Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six. Tencent holds a 25% minority stake after investing €1.16 billion.
