Gotcha Gotcha Games has announced that Action Game Maker, the latest in the long-running Maker series, is launching on June 16 for PC via Steam. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned creator, this toolkit promises a smooth, no-coding-required way to bring your 2D action game ideas to life.

A no-code toolkit powered by Godot

Action Game Maker is built on the Godot Engine, a powerful open-source game engine known for its excellent 2D functionality. What makes this toolkit stand out is its fully visual scripting system, meaning you won’t need to write a single line of code. Instead, it uses a node-based system similar to Pixel Game Maker MV, allowing you to link actions together (much like RPG Maker‘s event commands) to create gameplay logic.

But if you’re comfortable with coding, there’s GDScript support, so you can take things even further.

Build any 2D action game you can imagine

With Action Game Maker, you’re not limited to just one genre. Whether you want to create a platformer, Metroidvania, horror game, adventure, shooter, puzzle game, or something completely unique, the toolkit gives you full control. It supports both side-scrolling and top-down perspectives, so you can design your game the way you envision it.

Packed with pro-level features

Despite being beginner-friendly, Action Game Maker doesn’t skimp on advanced tools. Some of its standout features include:

If you’re new to game development or just want to hit the ground running, Action Game Maker comes with sample assets, including characters, tiles, music, and sound effects. These are designed to be simple and pixel-style, making them easy to modify and customise. But if you prefer to use your own assets, the toolkit fully supports high-resolution imports as well.

Keep an eye out for its release on June 16—this could be your chance to bring your dream game to life!
