Everyone’s favourite frag-fest has received a rather beefy update, adding a bunch of new features to the game’s casual and competitive players. Chief among them is the return of Instagib, the mode that lets you scatter total strangers and friends alike into as many bloody chunks as possible.
There’s a new ranked 2v2 deathmatch so you can take on the world with a friend, and a boatload of new cosmetic options so you can sweep away the snow and charge forth unto the breach with some fetching floral patterns and bunny ears. Bethesda have also unveiled a cheaper way to get involved – The Scalebearer Pack, which gets you into early access instantly along with a couple of champions and vanity items with the option of “renting” other champions for up to three days so you can try before you buy. The new No Abilities mode will be a blast from the past for long-time Quake fans and hopefully the new, cheaper entry option will provide plenty of meat for the Instagib grinder.
The Scalebearer Pack will be available from the 16th of March (that’s tomorrow, folks!) on Steam and from Bethesda direct with links below the video, so if you’ve been having any reservations about getting involved with another early access game, you’ll be able to throw them out the window. Strapped to a grenade.
Check out the Instagib video below for a glimpse into the chaotic fun!
Quake Champions is available now in Early Access on Steam and via Bethesda.net. Players can jump in immediately by purchasing the Champions Pack, which unlocks all current and future Champions as well as other exclusive in-game bonuses for only £19.99. The £3.99 Scalebearer Pack launches tomorrow with two Champions and additional bonuses. A free-to-play version of the game will launch in the future.
