H1Z1 launching as Free-To-Play on PS4

You could argue that the current gaming market is being overrun with Battle Royale type games such as Fortnite, even to the point where they’re now appearing on mobile platforms. But determined not to lose out to the competition, Daybreak Games creators of the original standalone Battle Royale game H1Z1 have announced an exciting new development for their popular title.

With an Open Beta planned to start May 22, 2018. H1Z1 will be launching as a Free-To-Play title on PS4 and will be rebuilt for the console featuring a new weapon progression system, a fully reworked UI and well, it wouldn’t be complete without a whole host of new weapons and gear too.

Speaking of bringing H1Z1 to PS4, the game’s producer Terrence Yee had this to say:

“H1Z1 on PS4 is true battle royale mayhem. We have reimagined the game for PlayStation 4 and have designed it to accentuate the essentials of battle royale that make the genre so exciting to watch and play. We have added key gameplay differentiators to keep the game frantic and fun — an action shooter’s dream of fast-paced battle royale.”

Registration for the Beta should be live now but it seems the site is having some hiccups, so keep checking back HERE if you want to register your interest and also to keep up-to-date on the game’s latest developments.

Probably didn’t bother with Xbone yet since people HAVE to pay for Xbox Live Gold if they want to play this Free2Play game. And every single day the devs of PUGB lose more money they could be making if they just got their game to version 1.0 on console already. 80 million PS4s out there, what a missed opportunity.

Valid point, at least Free-To-Play on PS4 is what it says it is, free with no need for PS Plus. It’s a shame Xbox don’t follow suit. And it’ll be interesting if when the Nintendo subscription service comes into play, what path they’ll take.
